Not much time lately for posting, tying or swinging.
We have are hands full with the new puppy addition 🙂

Did get a chance to sit and tie a few of these low water T&L's though. Definitely a scaled down version of the original.
This one was tied in hand for fishing on a vintage #4 Code Iron. I may need to take the file and get rid of that nub where I pinched the barb down.
Happy Easter everyone !!!

Thunder & Lightning Low Water

Tip: X-Fine silver wire
Tag: Golden Yellow floss, counter-ribbed with x-fine silver wire
Tail: GP crest, veiled with GP tippets

Under Collar: KF Blue Guinea set as a beard
Cheeks: JC nails

That should attract some attention if the rivers ever become fishable again.

I stole the pattern from Bruce
I just changed the underwing to peacock swords ... I believe Bruce uses squirrel (??).
I contemplated using bronze mallard for the wing, but opted for the teal I seen on Bruce's. I'm a big fan of light colored wings, just adds more POP.
I like swinging a white winged Undertaker or Green Highlander on those bright sunny days

Thatís a beauty! Iíve tied a couple similarly dressed down versions of the classic T&L, and itís been going to me for both steelhead and salmon. Yours is a winner for sure!

Hi, Mike...
That's a beauty, your take on the low water T&L. Would you mind posting the materials list and tying instructions for us?
Thanks...
Jim B.

Finally got around to rotating the photo ... thank you flickr

Materials go on the iron in order of the call out pattern, nothing special. Just reduce the proportions for low water.
If you wish to ease your nerves as you tie, two fingers of whiskey or scotch or brandy works wonders
You can also substitute the floss for single strand wool which is very sexy-fishy
