Used Flies - Memories of 2015
This is a sequel to Mike's excellent thread from last year titled "Used Flies - Memories of 2014". Now another year has come and gone leaving just steelhead memories and a few photos. "Numbers were down" again in the Great Lakes region as they say; but the weather was stellar with fishable rivers and warm fall conditions right into season close on New Years eve.
Here are some photos of a most excellent day where the weather was changing all around me - it rained, it snowed and the wind blew hard, then we had calm. The fish were responding that day to the atmospheric pressure changes. Non-comitial ; but responding with many tugs and grabs. There is nothing more kool than to be fishing in a stormy, fluctuating and volatile weather system with the awesomeness of mother nature and active fish .
I had success that day on the chewed up fly pictured here; landing the Grand River hat trick - a bass, a walleye and a steelhead all in one afternoon; all on the same fly. As it happened most of my steelhead this fall were hooked and landed on this one pattern. Other patterns just were not as productive for me.
