Did a short piece on the Blog about how I approach different patterns. Underwing of the Lion as an example. Hope you guys find it helpful and interesting.
Exceptional work and expert advice, Timo. Where she stands thus far, she looks exquisite. I particularly appreciate your choice and application of the perfectly tapered black body hackle, and the elegant body taper. They help create momentum. The Lion is a beautiful Classic. I look forward to viewing your progress and.............Thank you !!
Dressing with some of the same feathers and applying them in similar ways recently, I've noted some of the particulars you are dressing here: Tippets are not always long enough to set in strands. Peacock eyes and swords as under-wings and sides. Flat over the body - versus - back to back and upright. Hard to see how you tied the loop eye, but I wonder about running it along the side of the shank instead of underneath...
As mentioned - the elements of balance and proportion so far are simply exquisite: The taper in the hackle and how it seems to direct attention to the herl-butt, the intervals between the materials and how it is mirrored throughout. Truly exceptional.
