A couple summer time wets

Tried to do some wings like Jin does, with brushing them out. Not bad first tries, but need to get material proportions better.

Light Side: sz 1 Gaelic Supreme "Francis-Francis"

Dark Side: Sz 4 Sealy light wire

The Pair:

A bit rusty at the vice. tried some things that are new, like wire in the middle of the body on the black fly to help it sink properly.

The dark side rocks. Any chance of getting the recipe for it?

Lets see what I can think of for purple fly.
Hook is a low water wide gape old hook from the 30s or 40 Sealy. I think it would be lovely on AJ #3 or partridge N low water or something.

Tip and tag: fine copper wire.
Tail: Tippet and purple goose
Rib: copper
Body: gets weird. black and purple dubbing "butt", then some wraps of same copper fine wire, (my thinking was to get the fly to sink more uniformly, and add a spot of interest), then more black dubbing.
Hackle: a black and orange hackle from my rooster
Throat: Purple dyed pheasant rump.
Wing: Married soft brown turkey second w purple goose "under wing" and Black goose "over wing" brushed out like Jin does.
Sides: long JC to tag.
Finish: orange or black. To be honest, i was gonna finish with an orange head, then at the end decided there was enough color.

I also really want to fish this fly. I would gladly send a few flies to someone who is actively catching summer steel right now, I'm injured, and not fishing until September earliest. Send me a PM

I've been out about once a week for the last two months. Caught a nice fish on the MF Willamette on Friday. Will be shifting to the NU in the next couple weeks. Would love to swing some of these beauties.
