Adrian, this is an epic thread. I am so happy for you and you daughter Emma. What an amazing trip you both had. I know that sometimes it is easier to leave the kids behind and get some 'me' time on the river. I admire your selflessness by including your daughter in your passion for dry fly steelhead. It takes time and patience and sacrifice. It is so great that she got to taste success more than once on a difficult piece of water. EPIC THREAD. Thanks for sharing this story with all of us. Cheers.
Nate, thank you. I know you get it - when it comes to bringing the kids along, it takes planning and patience. But the rewards are so much greater (just as OkieDokie mentions below). Cheers, my friend.
Great post! I've been lucky enough to participate in about 8 or 9 first steelhead among a mix of both kids and adults. Those sessions are more ingrained in memory than my own first experience.
Hope you've generated a lifelong buddy there, and good luck,
So true about watching someone else get their first steelhead - it is way more exciting than getting your own. I have also been fortunate to help a few people into their 1st dryfly steelhead...the afterglow is fantastic.
