The Best. Every parent on this forum, who gets to share their passion with their children, knows just how SPECIAL this post really is. It's not about the fish -- but when you catch them on dries it kind of IS

Beautiful fish, pictures, story. All of it. Made my day. Archery season is around the corner. The dog days of summer are on my home river and I've been spending most of my time in the woods. But this post makes me want to fish. And to fish dries!. This story, and accompanying photos, needs to be published somewhere. I hope it does. Kids need more of this.

Emma:
Congratulations! I know you think you already have a great Dad, but you really do!! Cherish the memories and the time. Fish with him again. Expect to pay your dues. Expect good things! Steelheading, like life, can be unpredictable. But it's so worth it. You're a rock star. Did you see the news today? Some kid, about your age, just won $3 million playing Fortnite. Good for him. But you? You've outdone him. I'd rather take 2 steelhead on dries with my Dad over any amount of money. You could be inside the house playing video games or whatever lots of kids do. Instead, you chose to spend some time exploring God's creation. And with people you love. Priceless.
I will pass your words along to Emma. Cheers! I am humbled

Remind Emma that I hate her!

Adrian, listening to her “try” to tell the tale of that first fish was incredibly cool.

You’re a great dad, btw.

How can I “quadruple like” this post?

Too cool for words! That’s just awesome on several levels. Of course she’s been ruined for life now... lol

In all seriousness, although she probably has no idea, that trip will be one she’ll thrill (or bore) her own children and grandchildren with most likely. One of those magical times that will be forever etched into her and your memories. Very special!

That's a fantastic story. Excellent cackhanded single spey as well, great patience on her part to not rush the forward stroke.

As the father of a 4 year old girl who I'm getting into fishing as best I can I absolutely LOVED this. Pretty much everything I can hope for.

As the guy who just showed this river to a buddy for his first time, resulting in a 4 day skunkage, I absolutely HATE this. Well, so long as he doesn't see it I guess we're cool.

Adrian,

As the father of a 23 year old daughter .... and one who turns 21 tomorrow, remember these magic moments. They come and go way too damn quickly.

Keith, you, my friend, are an inspiration to me. Over a dram of Glenmorangie, it was you that put the idea in my head of bringing my family to camp as you had done while your girls were growing up. Being an only child, I had no idea what to face with girls at camp (I knew boys would have no problem). When you mentioned that your girls loved it...I knew I had to give it a shot. Here I am, just absolutely grateful for the experiences shared to me from folk like you.

You're right, brother, they appear and disappear. Cheers and blessings to you and your gals.

I feel you. I am hesitant to go back to that river now in the wake of Emma's success. What if go back and get skunked on my own? What will Emma say? What will her mom say to me? Under pressure....

Second Guessing...

This is perhaps the best post about someone catching fish I've ever come across on this forum, I enjoyed this.

Tell that daughter of yours, thats a none too shabby off the wrong shoulder Single Spey cast and as for the fish?, well you never mind her should be prouder than a proud thing on National Proud Day during International Proud Year.
You simply just can't buy experiences like that.
Heartfelt congrats to the both of you, put a huge smile on my face I can tell you.

Adrian it was great hanging out with you and Emma last week and what can you say such a great story. The smile on her face as you told the story around the campfire said it all. Looking forward to seeing you two up there next year! I can't wait to do something similar with my kids when they get older - hopefully a speypages post in years to come. A few pics to add below I'll e-mail you some more later.

As said above, definitely you get the dad of the year award it just doesn't get any better than this.

Cheers,

-John
