WTB Hardy Taupo

I am looking for an original Taupo in good working condition. Also, I would like to know if Hardy made a 3 7/8 Perfect that was not a Taupo. Thanks.

Yes, Hardy made a 3 7/8" Perfect that wasn't a Taupo - the Perfect (normally?) had a line guide and is heavier than the equivalent Taupo

I recently took this pic from Hardy's 1962 catalogue for a friend (for the same reason?)

Good luck

Edit/PS ~ I believe the Taupo is stamped as such on the faceplate

Thank you. There is a 3 7/8 on ebay but I don't think it is a Taupo, and I think only the reissued Taupo reels are stamped as such. The older ones are not

The original Taupo reels are marked on the faceplate. I know because I have one. I also have a narrow 3 7/8" Perfect so yes, those were made as well.

here's a photo of an original Taupo that I sold here some years ago - the spool had been polished, making the stamp more obvious

I have an original Taupo, it is stamped as such, whoever has bought that eBay reel purporting to be a Taupo has not bought the real deal. There is an explanation on the eBay site which is wrong. The reel on the ebay site is a 'normal' 3 3/7th model Perfect 1950 era.
The final bid I think also reflects this otherwise a real Taupo at that price would have been an incredible bargain, should have been in the region of 1000$ or even more with a good agate!

I just bought a new Taupo, easier than waiting forever to get an old one. They are still made at the England shop so it will still be a collector plus i get to be the one to start the reels character marks.

I have it paired with a Beulah 5/6 switch rod. Beauty setup
