A decade ago, after a previous decade with 'spey' fishing, 'what to my wonderous eyes should appear' but this double hand cane rod, and just at the time when my fishing soul was being tempted by bamboo.
This rod has landed salmon and steelhead with both a DT8 and a Delta 6/7. Through callous treatment the rod has lost one guide on the mid section, possibly because it lacks a bag and tube. (James Reid, our resident cane DH guru, is on the look-out for a replacement).
The 'Ibis' name was dropped after one year because Hardy had infringed on someone else's copyright of the name. A few other Neo Cane bird named rods suffered the same fate.
It is a 12' 3/1 #8DT rod that handles the above mentioned lines quite nicely. Wraps are scarlet tipped with gold, suction joint ferrules, with all sections the correct length.
I don't suggest Skagit style lines or casts although they may be done.
If you've been bitten by the cane DH bug - now's your chance to get in.
