Custom Switch rod 7wt (burl handles)

For sale: Custom Batson 1087-4. I built this rod for myself when I lived near steelhead alley. Now I live in the middle of Minnesota and do not have a huge need for it. I hate to part with it but it needs fished and not sitting in the closet.

Guides: recoil strippers 16,12 followed by recoil snake guides.

Handle: The lower handle, reel seat and accent on the upper handle are Amboyna burl. Upper handle is cork/rubberized cork shapped to cast both single or double handed. Handle is wet sanded to 2000 grit with many coats of finish.

Wraps: moca brown, cinn brown, orange, yellow.

Rod also comes with a matched steve special skagit which "fly" on this thing. It is 20.2 feet and if I remember correct 320gr (I would have to double check on that)

I have built a few rods for some board members and they can speak to my work.

Rod comes with divided sock.

Shipping is accual cost paid by the buyer.

Looking for 275.00 OBO USD

THanks much for looking,

Eric

Eric

Lovely rod. Would you be willing to ship to the UK?

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

That's a 'Piece of Cake;' do it frequently. Only one (Custom Declaration) 'special' form to fill out. Depending upon the package weight, and how you ship (Air mail, Priority, insured, etc) a rod will run between $35 to $50.
No point in using 'Registered Mail,' you won't get anything back.

"Phi" posts on some of the same UK boards as I; he's 'Straight Arrow.' Same log in name/Avatar ... that suggests a lot to me; all positive.

Thank you most kindly Fred. Since getting back into flyfishing this season, I've been buying various rods and reels from members of the UK forums, but there's a lot of very good rods in the States and I hope to acquire more of them over the next few months. At some point I intend speaking with Bob Meiser about a getting a couple of his Highlander Classics

Given interest rates on savings and UK inflation, there's not much point leaving spare money in the bank, so I might as well buy things that I'll enjoy owning

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Good call on getting one/more of Bob's rods ... they are working "Works of Art." And as a retired Banker don't even get me started on interest rates on savings accounts, etc.

Just to say that the rod has arrived safely. Lovely workmanship, thank you for taking the trouble to send it across the pond. I'm really looking forward to taking it out.
