z-axis spey rods are a very fast action rod and for that exact reason not alot of people favour them. he was probably sucked in by that Sage label and bought one thinking it would be awesome, cast it and found out it doesnt suit his casting style which alot of others have done as well.

I myself like a medium-fast to faster rod but even i find these rods a little too fast

for what its worth this is the perfect steely rod if your average fish are under 20lbs. I know several people that fish this exact rod on my home rivers.

Thanks

Many thanks for that input.Do people still BUY BEFORE THE TRY ! ?
Have seen people buy items that do not cover their requirements because they do not have confidence to say no, I am not good enough to make the most of that or it does not suit my style .
POOR sales staff, I am sure RED SHED would not do that!
Never delt with them but only heard good thing .

Sage z axis.

No issue with the rod. Casts great. I just prefer the Z axis 5110-4 for what I use it for. I am finding switch style rods work better for the rivers I fish.
This is an awesome rod, just don't see it getting the use it should and am trying to finance another purchase.
I did try out this rod at a spey clave, thus why I bought it. So easy to cast, that is what drew me to it.
I just hate having things that do not get used...

Fast action rods

Well I like fast action rods for the hook set, when your reflexes are slow like mine you need all the help you can get. I own 2 Z-axis rods just had my GFL 8124 sage replaced with a z-axis 8129, do not find much difference in them accept I think the tip section of the 8129 may be a little softer. They defiantly load up differently. Plus if you want your line in the water fast they get them there fast and line in water means more time fishing not casting LOL. But any way to each their own right.
