I just bought this rod in January. What a cool rod! I've been throwing a 360 compact skagit with 12 of T-8. For those who don't know, the 8/9 is a SH rating.....in otherwords, a 5/6 wt switch.

I'm trying to get a handle on what grain window works here. Most Guideline ratings @ 8/9 are 420 to 460 grs. The Scandanavian 8/9 is usually about a 7 to 8 wt here.
Benbow --you are saying the rating is less?
I have not been able to find any manufacture line recommendations for this rod.
Thanks.

That's about 320 grains only

Switch

I lawn cast 285 to 300 grain scandi type heads and it seemed very responsive. I then cast an 8wt. single hand salmon line and it was heading for the next zip code.

OK. I see it is lighter than I thought and was looking for.
I'm sure it's a sweetheart.

Guideline specs are very low. Crazy underhand casters! Don't be afraid to bump it up a class.

So, anybody there tried anything over 400 gr on this rod. How about sinking PT's or Int. DDC?

Could you correct the name of GUideline rod. You sell the Guideline Lecie or Guideline LPXE... For instance this one:

LeCie

I tried a 400 grain AFS in the yard tonite and it will throw it, but I lean to the light weight heads. It is a nice switch in the scandanavian style. I agree it is like a 5/6 switch.

I, like others thought the ratings were 2 handed. The Airflow recommendations show 420 to 540 for the 8/9 LPXe 11' switch.
