I have a 1540 for sale. It has never been fished or lined or even handled very much, it is MINT! $125 TYD anywhere in N.A.

Thanks for looking, Alex.

I have a Daiwa 813 reel with a spare spool on route from the UK.
It's built by JW Young to 1540 specs but I just don't know if the spool is interchangeable.
If it is I'll sell it to you. I'll be posting it up here soon if you don't want it.

Pete

If it is interchangeable how much did you want for it? Don't you want to keep it for yourself?

I have no need for it, I use shooting heads which are so easy change.

$35 + shipping.

Both the reel & the spool ARE made by J W Youngs, AND, because of the interchangeability of the spools between the Youngs 1540, the 'Daiwa' 813, and the 'Shakespeare' 4 1/4" wide Beaulite, and the fact that often fly fishermen had more than one spool, when they do come on the second-user market, the spool may well be badged (or even un-badged - no 'maker' attribution) differently than the badge on the reel housing.

One of the main attraction of these reels (apart from the solid, dependable British build, and the great click 'n' pawl system) is the fact that the spools ARE interchangeable between these apparently 'different' reels.

I realize that they are interchangeable but I am looking for a spare spool that is "un-badged"... Thanks

extra spools

FYI: I read somewhere the Daiwa spools have a small ridge on the spindle and only fit their own reels, however Daiwa spools fit other badged reels.

I have JW Landex, still kicking after many decades!
