FS: Daiwa 813 click & pawl reel (J.W. Young)

Daiwa 813 reel for sale with spare spool

4.25" diameter, wide spool, holds 11# line plus 200m backing. This is a classic English reel, build by J.W Young (same size as Youngs 1540 but with ventilated back plate).

Double click & pawl check, set up for RHW but interchangeable. The check is very loud! Small flake of paint missing from rim of one of spools (see below) but otherwise in excellent condition with very light scuffing on back plate.

Lines not included but blue backing is.

Shipping to N. America will be at cost (around $25)

Looking for $140 + shipping

Thanks for looking. PM if interested

Considering the interest in Youngs 1540 reels on this forum I am surprised that there has only been four views of this reel. From the same stable and mould as the 1540 but much nicer!

I thought to myself what is he on about? So I had a look at the reel and sure enough there was a little piece of stick in the back of the reel!

Offending item removed

That was a remarkable piece of observation. Do you work in the returns department of a car hire company?

BTW the reel is sold subject to funds, I'll even include the stick!

When you first posted it I thought the same thing and was wondering was it put ther to try and keep pressure on that sides spring and maybe thats why the reel was not moving, the computer jammed up and had to have it re-formatted or else I would have asked also

No need for a little twig to tension the spring, there is a good strong clicker on that reel!

It must have found its way in via the back plate ventilation holes and stuck on the grease or something.
