Hook Making ....barb cutter for sale

SOLD SOLD SOLD.....enjoy Mike

Hello Everyone.

I have a custom made barb cutting jig that was designed by master hook maker Tak Shimizu. Made by a machinist who, if memory serves me correctly worked for Boeing of Seattle. It has never been used and is designed to cut more than one barb at a time with incredible precision on the hook wire. It is made of barstock aluminum, and has a tool steel cutter that is easily resharpened.

I was all hot to trot on making hooks, but I have way too many hobbies to get started on it now.

I am putting this out there to see if there is any interest in it. I am selling it for what I paid. $325

For the buyer, I will include literally reams of information, pdf files on how to use the barb cutter, bending the wire, heat treating and tempering. The templates of all the bending jigs for each type of hook bend, hook templates, showing their scale and shapes, as well as templates for making sure your 2/0 hook is a 2/0 hook. I will also include ALL the hook wire I have to make many many hooks from low water light wire salmon all the way up to approx 10/0 diameter wire for those wonderful blind eye salmon irons.

All of the literature, pdf files, templates and links to all hook making information will be included on either a DVD or CD dependent on the size of the entire file folder.

Here is your chance....if you ever wanted to get started making hooks ,this is the hardest part of the package to get ahold of. The barb cutter cannot be purchased at any retail outlet...I waited for approx 6 months for this one. With all the info I include and the wire, you will be well on your way to making your own irons.

Here are some photos of the barb cutting jig ( you are getting one....the pic of all three was the machinist taking pics for the guys who bought one each) , and my first blind eye using Tak Shimizu's jig ( the one this was modeled after)

Hook Making Information

Hi Norseman,
Was wondering if there is a copy of the information available on CD or DVD? Also is there anything you can provide for having a Barb Cutter machined at my local machine shop? Thanks in advance for your time and any help you might be able to provide!

Hello J.

Sorry I was not the machinist or the fellow who drew up the plans for the barb cutter. I don't have any drawings or diagrams. Wish I could help
