I suspect it is because the reel is a tank. None of the rods I fish need such a healthy counterbalance.

It is a beauty. I look at this thread daily.

I just weighed a few of my (similar) Reels.
I took them off the following:
7133
8139
9145
Burkheimers...pretty "light" rods, eh?

And while doing so, I recall selling a few Danielsson's a few years back (which I admire and like greatly) as they were simply too light to balance.
I mean if they are a bit(?) too heavy, well we learn to grip up a bit, yes----too light?
Well they always feel too light
No place to grip farther down.

Point?

if you want to fish with a reel that has the traditional mojo of almost a Hundred Years of big anadromous fishing do not be too dismayed by a few "ounces".
My views and perhaps the views of a few others.

I wondered about all these type of things when I was considering going "Clicker" vs. dragger.
So I offer it up for consideration to anyone who is thinking......

reel

The best thing about this thread is that I learned to get good pictures using a technique from 'Turtledoc' from another site. The cost of supplies was $7.68 and I had a 'studio!!' I use the waterproof Canon D10 camera always. I have a Nikon D60 and extra lenses, plus other stuff. I should trade it all for a reel for all the use it gets.

Please note that the pawl is a replacement....I think the 5 is pretty obvious.

Those are nice shots, of a beautiful reel - wish I could justify it somehow..

I am curious about your photo studio - the link didn't work, or I couldn't get it to work. Would you mind reposting?

Thanks,
Eric

.....figured it out - thanks!
