''wanted'' hardy ox-blood neroda clip box

Have a friend who's needing a older hardy Neroda ox-blood colour 40 clip box as a special gift for someone , he's going to fill it with his own flies for him

i'm trying to help him find a good 40 clipper or open to other amount of clips , also would sooner have ox-blood but will take the brown molted , also willing to pay top dollar if in mint condition as it's a special gift , really don't want one with a crack or piece of hinge missing ,

please email at [email protected] or post message me
thanks

"...also willing to pay top dollar if in mint condition .."

Yikes! Not heard of these so off to Google. Several 'hits,' most quite dated (including Christie's Auction House), but Dutch, you may well have to do the above.

Cool looking kit though so I understand the 'special gift' idea.

Dutch, I took the liberty of a cut and paste over to a UK ..

based fly fishing board (largest in the UK?) and posted your hunt.

If you get 'no-joy' here, perhaps the Fellows can lend a hand.

Dutch, check out the other board.

One of the fellows (Mr. Trout) just posted a good lead (if you still need one).

Classic Hardy - beautiful idea but like all clip boxes, fine for small flies, indifferent for med. sized flies and totally useless with big flies. Had a vintage one which I bought new with money from my 18th birthday....lost it. That was 50 years ago this April. Had another clip salmon box, a clip trout size and a "pipecleaner" type for trout flies.....the only one I liked, but all got abandoned over 20 years ago.

A nice box is a Birmingham storage chest made from tin which contains 6 trays with clips.....these were marketed by all of the "big name" fishing tackle shops in the first half of the 20th Century and usually have the name of the firm inside the lid on an embossed brass plate. They are great for storing fly collections. They often appear on the list at Angling Auctions in London (Google). AA also always have the brown Bakalite boxes.

Dutch, a link from the folks on the FFF UK Board.

You'll have to scroll down quite a bit, but 'they' do have one of the boxes. Not sure it's the colour you want though ...
