I bought these soles specifically for using on the Ausable River in Upstate NY. The river is filled with crazy bolders and because the water was warmer and lower than usual, they were slimy & I didn't get the traction I was hoping for. I only fish it once a year for 4 days and find that my good old felt and studs did better in that environment. Keep in mind however, the Ausable river is considered one of the most difficult rivers to wade in the country. These soles were fine in some of the other streams I have been in (west canada & salmon river), but I typically use something different for them and don't need an extra pair? Does this make sence? I wanted them for the Ausable due to it's difficult wading, and they didn't satisfy my needs in that river.
