WTB Economical Starter Reel

I just purchased my first switch rod and am wanting to dip my toes into spey. I'm looking for an economical reel for my Douglas Outdoors Freshwater Switch 6wt...$80 is my max budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you will get a lot of offerings here but you don't say what size your looking for or what rod? You might want to look into old pfleugers, martins, shakespears, youngs and such. Decent reels, great clickers and can be had for a low cost.

Dan

Which way to the river?

Sorry for the lack of info. I’m looking for a 7/8 Wt Reel. The rod info is in my original post. Douglas Freshwater Switch Rod 6wt.

I will offer an SA system2 8/9 or 10/11. I understand it's a 6wt but depending on rod length going up in weight can be useful. These are old school reels, not large arbor, they have decent disc drags and full frames. I use mostly 12/13 reels on spey rods so the smaller ones might work well on a switch. Made in England. Can provide pics if interested, just cast me a pm with your email address. $75 will do for either.

I've got a Pflueger Medalist 1498 DA. Excellent condition. Would be a perfect size for a 6wt switch. $45 shipped.
