WTB Tube Vise

For some strange reason, I have been thinking a great deal about tube flies. I am working on some ideas to change up my fishing strategies this season to beat my fishing partner. Can't do any worse then I did this year, with a whopping zero fish banked in Ontario.

I digress. I am looking for a tube vise that will actually hold the tubes. I have one of the adapters, but I found it really frustrating with the tube spinning all the time. So if you have anything let me know. Please keep in mind the Canadian dollar is terrible at the moment. I do have a bunch of chest packs and bags, lines and hooks I would be happy to trade for the vise as well.

Regards
Brayden

Hey Brayden, I've got a Renzetti tube vice I haven't been using much we can talk about. PM me and we can discuss details if you are interested.

On the opposite end of the spectrum I have a Togen to sell or trade, no clamp or pins.
It's NOT a Renzetti or HMH, but it seems to hold well enough (I only tied one fly on it).

I just looked up Togen. If there is no clamp or pins, what do you have? Or do you mean the clamp that hold it onto the table?

Please advise.

It's just the vise head with the standard 3/8" stem.
It's kind of like an Eumer- but it's NOT an Eumer, either... I think- I've never actually used an Eumer.

By the way Brayden, which adapter do you currently have- is it the HMH, a different higher-end one, or one of the "other" adapters?

I can't even remember what one it is. I got it years ago, when I first got into Spey in a package from the great lakes tube company I think. It had pins but the tubes would still spin. I will try and look the one you have up tonight.

Fair enough.

Not trying to do myself (or anyone else) out of a potential trade/sale- not to mention that if you are set on getting a tube vise, get a tube vise- but it's only fair to say that dedicated vises/heads are great but you might still want to check out the HMH adapters.

I think the small one is called the Tube Tool, and there is a new one called the Shank Adapter.

I think I want a dedicated vise for tubes. I am currently working on completing my office/fly tying room and I have the space for another vise.

I have had a few people reach out to me, but I am still considering offers if anyone has anything.

I think you'd find that the HMH CX Crossover vise would do it. I have one and it's about the best tube vise I can imagine. No slipping period. And the Omni Jaw comes with it so if you want to tie with hooks or shanks you just quickly change it and it's solid. Really well made and I think made right here in the USA.

For what it's worth, I figured out how to adapt this pin vise to my Nor-Vise and I've been super happy with it. Works much better than the HMH, Eumer, Protube, and other adaptors I've tried.

Hey thanks that is really cool idea. If I did not have an epically long list of DIY projects on the go, I would tackle that as well.

Took about 5 minutes and a Norvise Spool Arbor...

See the attached picture, sorry it rotated for some reason.

I have an almost new HMH CX Crossover tube vise I would be willing to part with. I have the hook jaw as well. It's in the box ready to go. Let me know if interested. I'm in Canada.

I never use it as I don't tie tubes that often
