WTB 2 wt. trout reel

looking for a tiny click and pawl reel for a small 6'3" glass rod. will be used teach my daughters to cast single handed. the rod is a 2 weight. something under $100 preferred. my girls will be fishing some small headwaters for wild browns and rainbows. time to hang up the spin rods. thanks for looking. please PM any offers.

I found a sweet little reel from a member her and am expecting it to be mailed soon. It is a Meisselbach Airex 370. Thanks for the generous offers and suggestions. You folks at Speypages are a kind and generous group.

I'd look for a Redington Drift 2/3. (or the older Redington CT 2/3) I had one on a similar sized glass rod for my kid. They come up fairly regularly on the auction site.. Definitely come in well under 100.

Agree w/ this my GF has one and it's a great reel.

Orvis battenkill I or II is also a good option. I have a BK II that I just bought from someone very lightly used for well under $100, so they are out there.

A guy from Texas called Bulldog, on another popular fly fishing site, works on classic reels. He had a photo of the inside of one of those reels where the gear plate had ground a circular groove into the face plate. He also said the springs were too stiff and generally low quality. I think they look nice but doubt they will perform well or stand the test of time. Best, Nate

Glad you found what your looking for.

For sure. I won't expect much in terms of quality compared to some classic reels tenfold the price, but for a 2wt rod I figure might be worth the gamble since 2wt reels are just glorified fly line holders anyways. It's not like one can expect the fishes you are targeting to spool the line like a fresh steelhead.
