Hi everyone,

I have three new Pflueger Medalist fly reels for sale. All of the reels are new in the box and come with backing and never used fly lines. The reels were used for demo pictures and have never been fished.

You should have specified that these are the new models. Time will tell whether they're better or worse than the old warhorses. Fly reels come and go like calendar pages; a few become legends.

I wish they made these in DH sizes... From glance an the internals it appears they used Hardy components?

I have the 5/6 and 7/8. Love that they all have a full cage and rim controllable. The 5/6 is one of my favs although I don't own any other spring pawl reels in that size range to compare to. The 7/8 has capacity... I loaded ~125' of power pro and fit a old 8/9 delta Spey (full) line on there and it was perfect. I was planing on using it on switch rods for trout but in my experience it balances much better with my 1308 Scott arc. The spring strength on the 5/6 is great and I leave it at it's loosest setting when fishing. my 7/8 spring is quite light even when wound to the tightest setting which is how I leave it so that it doesn't birdsnest ... I've tried calling a few places to try to find a stiffer spring but no luck yet without having to send it in for fitting and I'm too lazy/cheap to do that.

Anyway, hope that helps someone who might be intersted... Great inexpensive reels.
