xgolfman. First off Im sorry you have had bad experience in your opinion with transactions started through these classifieds. The people that keep the speypages running offer us these classifieds as a way for us to buy/sell/swap gear. They also offer this as FREE WORLDWIDE ADVERTISING. They also DO NOT have to offer us these classifieds and they could make them easily disapear. I for one think your speypages "good businessmans policy" quote added into your classified is out of line. If you choose to start a transaction with a person through these classified you are then dealing with that person, speypages has nothing to do with it. Although they will be there to help you out as much as they can if need be, as evidence from the recent non pay post. I think I may speak for many when I say I really appreciate speypages offering us a classifieds section. I would really hate to see it go away. I guess Im just trying to say anyone who chooses to use the classifieds please do so in a respectful way, Both towards the speypages moderators, members and visitors and to whoever you are dealing with whether you are the buyer or seller and in your listings, pms and emails. Kevin

That's fine Kevin and I agree wholeheartedly..but I am following what I was told is not only the norm but the excepted way of dealings...If I did otherwise I would be not considered a good business man or a fool for not waiting for my friends to offer me more...Since I own my own business and have built it up to be somewhat profitable and done so on honesty and integrity I never realized what I've must have been missing, but from the replies with inherent smugness It must have been quite allot!!!

Your right, if I don't like what I see I can choose to not sell or buy on here or maybe I can do something that might hopefully make some of the "Me" gang realize how pathetic their argument is...So take it for what it's worth!! If I sell on here I will guarantee it will be done the right way..If not, so be it!!!

Nrthcsteel,

I think you took what Xgolfman said out of context. I know him to have good humor and it was made as a joke.....Nothing more. He ended his statement with the "Razz" icon....That should have explained it. I'm not trying to "fire back at you", I just think that everyone should look at the totality of the post before jumping to conclusions.

I've had an opportunity to meet him at the spey clave in Carnation and have communicated with him several times in this forum and he is a stand-up guy....

Just my 2 cents guys

Sounds like you really want to put it on ebay, the audience is bigger.

Have you considered the PM thing. Just because you were the first to answer the listing, doesn't mean you were the first to contact the seller. And yeah, If I get two offers from two people, and one of them I've known for years and lives 10 minutes away, lent me his spare rod when mine broke on a trip, and hooked me up with some nice blue eared pheasant, etc. etc. etc. if I haven't promise it to someone else, guess who's getting it...

Great, so it's good to know that you'd be another one who would tell someone they had a deal and then re-nigged!!

Add that one to the list of excuses I've now heard..

I'm almost wanting to ask how old all of you are? Are you 20/30 somethings who think the ****ing world still revolves around you? Do you go on fishing trips with your buddies and expect them to bring spare rods/reels/equipment for you?
Do you show up and have to ask to borrow crap all the time because your not prepared and always have some lame reason why? Why is it that 95% of the spey guys I know seem to have their heads on straight but my dealings with the classifieds on here seem to contain the other 5%...
So typical and a mirror of what is going on in our world now!!! No one wants to take any responsibility or stand up for what's right and wrong....look the other way, let the moderators handle it..post some lame ass excuse or argument on why it's OK!!!

I give up...Reel is Sold by the way!! Pending payment...First guy who contacted me, It was his until he said otherwise...Yup, stupid me..

I got a call on my cell yesterday on the way home from a past student asking my opinion about a reel.
I guess it was your reel as I see he has contacted you regarding the sale.
I hope it works out for you and everybody's happy.
I personally hope he buys it so I can play with it next time Jim and I are out on the river.
You listening Jim!!!!!

Wow. I'm impressed. I was only pointing out that there could have been other negotiations going on simultaneously and perish the thought that YOU might misinterpret negotiations for a commitment to you. Nah. That couldn't happen. You wouldn't misread a post... Like where I said "if I haven't promise it to someone else" part in my post? I'm willing to accept the possibility that just maybe the typo in that quote threw you off... I stand by my promises. Man...

And for the record I wouldn't deal with you on anything for fear of any part of the deal going wrong. Can't imagine how far you'd go if the post office left it on your doorstep, or didn't knock loud enough when you were home... But I'm sure you're impressing many with your rational level headed approach. Just like mama said when you were selling stuff in Boy Scouts "Remember Sweetheart! You aren't just selling raffle tickets, you're selling YOURSELF!" And from where I stand, you've gone "off"...
