6126-3B for Native Fish Society

I have a Sage 6126-3b 'brownie'. It's a custom build, not factory. I had a new middle AND tip section rolled by Sage and wrapped at the local flyshop. The butt section is original, the tip & middle are shiny and new. The action is full-flexing and will bend right to the cork with a Skagit setup in the upper 500gr range. If you are struggling with top-hand dominance in your casting, this would be a good rod for you. It was the first rod I owned that 'told' me to pull with my lower hand. In contrast to other tapers, I could really feel myself loading the rod from the butt. When I did go with a nice, relaxed stroke it was very effortless to cast and a lot of fun. If touch & go casts are your thing, lighten up the line and I'm sure she'll sing for you.

I would like to part with this rod in the same fashion I'm parting with my Hugh Falkus book. I'm looking for $150 to be donated to the Native Fish Society. The donation can be in your name and is tax-deductible. I'll pick up the shipping charges. My hope is that there is more than one party interested in owning this rod and helping NFS out. The individual that offers the highest donation by April 15th will get the rod.

Additional Note: Just to clarify, if you would like to make a donation 'offer' or 'bid' for the rod, go ahead and post it right here to the thread. That way, everyone will know who is interested and where they stand. It's really no different than a basic auction. My hope is that this format would get a decent donation for the Native Fish Society and get us thinking about other ways we can help out.

Thanks,

Trevor

Here's a few...

Edit: These are new pics. Not great, but better than my first try. Rod comes with the sock, but I don't have a tube.

The wraps on the butt section are maroon or burgandy in color with a gold accent, the wraps on the tip and middle are maroon to match. The female side of the ferrules weren't wrapped. I would think someone could pretty easily wind some maroon & gold if they were so inclined. The butt is metal with a rubber cap. The rubber is in good shape, no cracking. The reel seat is up-locking with a ring that slides over the foot and two threaded rings to secure it. It holds my reels solidly with no play. The upper grip length and shape is almost identical to the factory 6126-3's. The lower grip is about 1" longer. Hope that helps.

Willie G,

That's awesome. I'm happy to see this rod do something good, instead of just collecting dust. $200 was as much as I dared to hope for, and you went straight for it!

Way to be... I'm sure the Native Fish Society will appreciate your support.

Thanks,

Trevor

Woo-Hoo!

Well, I had previously stated that I would leave this open to bidding till April 15th, but I don't see the point. Willie G has offered a generous donation and with Jack Cook matching it, I'm really happy with the outcome. Willie G has added a new 6126-3 to his collection and the Native Fish Society is recieving a total of $400. Consider this deal closed!
