lamson lp5

I have decided I need to part with it if I can get what I am thinking for it. Sorry to not contribute to much more than a for sale to the board. Lamson lp 5 with spare spool, boxes bags and paperwork in good + excellent - condition for sale. There is a slight wear to the rim of the reel cage and maybe another slight mark but the finnish is rin very good condition. Reel has never seen salt and has not been used hard. I fit a wulff tt 9/10 floating and a 9/10/11 rio wincutter versitip on the reel with plenty of backing. A classic looking reel and well made. I have a couple others in the trout size and have never had any problem with a clutch. Please email me for photos and if you are interested.

thanks,
Russell

Hey guys, I do not regular the board too much and have not had many chances to use my spey rods since I moved from WA to W D.C.. I just had a blue water rod built up for me and I have picked up a reel that will double as a blue water spey reel. I have a lamson lp 5 which I considered a great reel for salmon and steelhead on the spey rod and was wondering what would be a reasonable selling price for it and a spare spool with boxes and all. The reel is in excellent condition with maybe a few slight marks to the rim.

thanks,
Russell

Look on e-bay for recent selling prices. A LP 4 in darn nice shape just sold for $91, and it had backing on it, but that could be on the lower end. I'd say $125-$175 is about right if the reel and spool are in very good to excellent condition. Somebody who really wants and LP5 might just pay more for it, it's hard to tell. Keep in mind excellent condition means it's close to new maybe only one or two scratches. Several small scratches but overall good finish is considered very good condition. These reels have a reputation for clutch failures and the pool of clutches is starting to run out. Once they are all gone Lamson does not plan to make any more clutches. They do offer an upgrade to a new reel for reels they can't fix but still it's something that is in the back of the mind of most people who research these reels thoroughly.

Thanks for the advise, I still have not quite made up my mind on whether I want to part with it.
