Looking for a fishing partner

I am looking for a regular fishing partner..... Swinging for steelhead got in my blood last winter and I've soaked up as much as possible; however being new I've found there is only so much that can be self taught. I've trout fished for a number of years and am a fairly avid fly tyier.

My work schedule is chaotic at times and I work weekends. I do everything in my power to fish every Wednesday. I live in Portland, Oregon andconsider the Sandy River to be my home river. The Sandy has many nuisances and am trying to learn them. I don't own a boat (yet) so I wade fish. I did one guide trip last winter and will shoot for at least two this year.

I must sadly admit after hitting the river religiously last winter I never hooked up with a fish, although I did snag a sucker. Despite a shut out last year I am looking forward to a good year.

Now, I'm looking to find someone who either knows what they are doing or is willing to spend the time trying to figure it out. I know there are tons of folks around who fish. I've talked to them at the Sandy Spey Clave, fly tying expo and fly shop Christmas party.

I've searched the forum but did not find anyone in the same boat. I am sure there are folks out there who may be in the same spot.

Thumbs up Sandy river fishing partner.

Great Stream so I'm giving this a 'bump to the top.'

Don't give up, you can do it on your own. I did it in 1980-1982 when I first started steelheading with the fly. I had been an eastern trout fly fisherman prior to that. Check out your local trout unlimited and other fly fishing clubs. When on the water watch where others are fishing and not fishing, look for structure and current. Took me two years to land my first, but what a feeling that was doing it on my own. Back then we did not have the many information sources fishermen now have. Good luck
