Reasonable seller question??

If you paid full price for a rod plus full shipping costs and a month later no signs of said rod nor will the seller answer a pm, what would you do??

Is there any recourse with PayPal?

Thanks guys!!

You should email the seller at his paypal email.
If no answer, initiate a Paypal complaint.

Yes there is...

Yes, you do have some recourse through Paypal. You can dispute the transaction and if it isn't resolved, you can elevate the dispute and make a claim against the seller. You have only 45 days to do this. I would suggest that you log on to the Paypal site. At the top right you will see a logout heading, a help heading, and a security and protection heading. Click on "help" and search away. You can also contact Paypal directly for help and advice. Act soon, eh?

I think I fish, in part, because itís an anti-social, bohemian business that, when gone about properly, puts you forever outside the mainstream culture without actually landing you in an institution. ĖJohn Gierach

PayPal's buyer protection policy will take care of you. Call them, tell them what happened and they will start the process for you.

You will be required to do a bit of follow-up after a few days so watch your email.

They actually do a good job of taking care of this type of situation.

Don't wait.

I would file a Paypal dispute...yesterday. This is from the fleabay site regarding the Paypal dispute policy for non received items. Paypal is a fleabay company.

Opening a case when an item isn't received:

A buyer can open a case after an item's estimated delivery date. If no estimated delivery date is provided, a buyer can open a case 7 days after paying for an item if the item was shipped domestically, or 30 days after paying for an item if the item was shipped internationally.

A buyer must open a case no later than 30 days after actual (or latest estimated) delivery date*.

Thanks a bunch guys. It was an item from these classified. Ive pm'ed some of this guys past buyers and they all reported super slow shipping but these were $50 items. This is a $400 rod. The seller promised shipping via a pm days after I sent payment and I have emailed his personal email. I will contact PayPal ASAP but damn did I want that rod lol.

I think I found the listing you are referring to and the seller has ample post count to lend credibility to the transaction. The chances that you are being "stiffed" are probably low, but you're a month in to a transaction and can't get a response from a seller. I'd file the dispute, in which case Paypal will contact the seller and let them know the funds are being disputed. Amazing how quickly this might get a response from the seller and a rod in your hands. Been there done that (not on this site) and a funds dispute tends to grab someone's attention pretty quickly.

Hoping you get your rod...and if not...your money back.

I picked up an item from this seller as well, just under 2 month delivery with zero communication. For the most part I use to look at post counts before I bought anything but thanks to this seller I look up the name and older posts to see if I want to deal with them.

This forum is unusual in the trust that exists among the members. If a seller takes 2 months to complete a transaction on the same side of the border as the buyer, without communication, I would say that the trust is being abused. I have done a little selling and quite a bit of buying on the Pages, and without exception the buyers and sellers have RUSHED to complete their half of the deal, as I have. It has been a pleasure to do business with the members. If a seller causes so much stress in a buyer that advice and remedies are asked for, then I offer my opinion that the seller has no business doing business here. Buff.

Man, I feel bad if I don't get the package in the mail the day the money is in my account. Sometimes it's impossible, but we all know what it's like to be waiting for new toys. I've had nothing but smooth transactions on this site!! And rookie Spey was one of them, you don't deserve this....

Sorry to hear about your problem RS. Hope you hear back from the seller soon. Else I would contact the credit card company to file a dispute concurrently with opening a Paypal dispute.

Well said. Hey... SH*T happens sometimes, but communication is the key if your unable to ship promptly as a seller.

Which brings me to another point. I've always wondered why the mods allow OPs to remove classifieds. Most of the other hobby boards I belong to (golf etc...) do not allow such practice to go on, as it serves to enlighten potential buyers on the credibility of any sellers.

If/When I sell stuff here, I always try to ship it out in two days unless it is a weekend and I also mail/PM the shipping number.

This seller should be "named and shamed" if so many people have had difficulties with him/her!

Who will be next if he/she is not made public?

It would be nice to have a rating/ trust score system in place for.classifieds.
