Great Lakes fly patterns

I'm curious if there are any books out there with steelhead and salmon fly patterns specific to the Great Lakes region. I have Karl Weixlmann's book which is great but would like to add to my collection. Thanks!

I've found "Best Streams For Great Lakes Steelhead" by Bob Linsenman to be a really good Great Lakes book

rick and gerry kustich book

Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead by Rick and Gerry Kustich has an extensive photo and recipe section of Great Lakes steelhead flies. The book is also superb, though on the pricey side.

"Steelhead Dreams" by Matt Supinski has 13 color plates of GL flies, with recipes. Also "Steelhead Guide; Fly Fishing Techniques and Strategies for Lake Erie Steelhead" by John Nagy has extensive fly pics and recipes.

Also:
Not specific to Great Lakes, but a good one with color photos, recipes and how-to's is: Steelhead Fly Tying Guide by H. Kent Helvie. Lastly (ok, probly not, but its worth a try), I'm big on knowing the history, the roots, if you will, of flies of any stripe. Providing a good foundation for that kind of knowledge related to Steelhead flies is Trey Coombs big book, "Steelhead Fly Fishing." I had the privilege of holding all the original flies on their plates for that book in my hands a time or two. That was inspirational.

+1 for John Nagy's "Steelhead Guide." Even covers tube flies.
Best,

Thanks for all the suggestions! I may end up asking for a few books this Xmas -- winter is long in MN...

Nagy's book is great and worth adding to the collection. The coverage of streams is mostly limited to NY, OH, and heavily focused on PA as you may suspect given his locale. Not sure how much use that is for you in MN. There are fly patterns and some recipes in the book but it is limited. Still worth a read, no doubt you will find useful information. Check out Nagy's blog, there are some step by steps there as well as a plethora of other good reading material.

Not a book, but google Kevin Feenstra, his site is a rich resource; with flies he developed and fishes with great success in Michigan. There are some SBS, pattern menus, and pix.

also ...

Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead by Rick Kustich and Jerry Kustich, which has help with some my inspiration.

Patterns are there, with recipes, but not tying instructions.

Chagrin River Outfitters publishes some patterns online.

I find the Nagy and Weixlmann books to compliment each other quite well. I'll be looking into some of the other recommendations too.
