Winter Spey Fishing for Steelhead, by Mike Kinney

Available at Amazon.com for Kindle.

This is an amazing book. Mike has the innate ability to distill to essence the functional issues of winter Steelheading with a double handed fly rod. Crisp prose focuses on his experiences and how to employ the techniques he has identified as effective. Mike has an artists eye for nuance and a fine writing style that gives the reader confidence and a good "feel" for the material.

By publishing in this new format Mike also signals his willingness to experiment with new technologies and delivery mechanisms for information. It's great to see traditional fishing and modern social networking and publishing coexisting and flourishing as a result of these synergies.

Highly recommended.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know this was available. Fresh priority

Unfortunately, I don't have a Kindle (and til now didn't want one). But I knew about the e-book as I follow Mr. Kinney on Facebook.

I pretty much suck at facebook, but Mr. Kinney is one of the most effective facebookers I have seen. Well worth searching him out and friending, if for no other reason than all the great info he brings.

Yeah so I just got the Kindle app (free) for my iPhone, and purchased Mike K's book, and yes, it is good. What's neat, is, as he creates updates, as a purchaser, those updates will (should? I hope?) come in for free, updating your book.

At first the book is a checklist for going out winter steelheading - but - a very well written one and very welcome even though some of the ideas might be "common sense" to anyone at this point.

Mike's writing style instills confidence and success.

I can't wait until he expounds even further

Kindle book

Here's a quote from his Facebook page-

"To those that are interested I have chosen this publishing format because it is supposed to handle the most digital formats. This is a one price fits all type of E- book so as I start to update with content, photos and art work the customer gets free updates. Who knows how much it will grow from here."

Good show Mr K!

Maybe if a moderator is reading this, the "Book Reviews" topic could be
expanded to other media forms. i.e. iphone apps. There are some very
useful and helpful ones now available.

book

If you download the free Mac Kindle software, you can also place the ebook
on your iphone by synching. Not sure if this is the same for PC users and
other types of phones, but feel pretty sure it must be. With one of those
solar cell power supplies, you could be reading this book in your sleeping
bag at a remote Alaskan fishing camp. How cool is that?????????

Thumbs up Many thanks for the links!

Took seconds to down load the reader program (it is free) and another few key strokes to have the book ($4.99) on screen.

How cool is that?

This is very cool. I also like the fact that Mike is using new tech stuff to get his message out.

Down loading it to my PC was a piece of cake.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

Are there hard copy books available as well? Call me old fashioned but I like to flip the pages by hand, and always know where my favorite books are on the shelf.
