How to box an intruder!

Hi,

How do you wrangle these intruder flies? What kind of boxes are you using? Do I have to modify one of those large salt water fly boxes with a bungee?

Thanks,

Tony

Post pics of your setups! Pic is worth a thousand words.

I just stick them in a small clear plano type box to take to the river. Sometimes the get a little tangled...but never too bad, as I don't keep a ton with me. Bigger boxes for storage.

I recently picked up "The Swinger" from Cliff Outdoors. Holds more than enough flies for me and fits in a pocket on my jacket/waders.

I use the old Perrine boxes with the green plastic clips.

~ 1/2 inch plastic test tubes

store the tubes inside a small plano box, or any other container

google test tubes and you'll find some cheap ones

A ziplock sandwich bag works for me. One for dry ones and one for wet ones.

I posted this on another board, but I'll post it here also.

Here is what I came up with. I made some clips out of stainless wire and inserted them in a slotted foam box. I hook the eye Of the fly over the wire, then insert the hook in the slot as usual.

These aren't Intruders but it works the same with any large articulated fly.

The stub of the wire digs into the foam and keeps it from pulling out.
