Rod question

Had my sage 6126 stolen out of my car. Looking to replace it but will have to settle for something a little less expensive. Any suggestions for a 6wt in the $300 range.

There are an awful lot of 6wt spey rods that come up here in the classifieds. My advice would be, if you can afford to be patient, to watch on here for a good one to come up. Actually posting a WTB (want to buy) ad in the classifieds can be faster - people will sometimes be inspired to unload that rod that has been sitting in their closet by seeing your ad. This has actually worked for me a number of times! It also preempts the whack-a-mole process that can happen when a really nice deal pops up on the classifieds. See, you might already have one in spite of the fact that you did not post in the classifieds!

You should be able to get a far better bang for the buck this way, and you can do the research on any rod you aren’t familiar with once you have an offer. At least give it a try before you buy - you might be surprised. With the WTB ad the feedback is usually nearly instantaneous, and you should be able to sufficiently resolve the issue of whether there are one or more great ones out there available at your price range in (I’d guess) less than a week.

Redington Chromer at 399$ new (I think) is a great rod. Used would be cheaper. It doesn't have a ton of "soul," but it's a little rocket. The Dually is cheaper and maybe even a better bang for the buck. They were just on sale for 99$ new but I think it sold out at that price.

Thanks for the help everyone. Thanks for the tip Botsari. Maybe I'll get lucky and find what I'm looking for and help somebody out at the same time. Fat man, I checked my p.m. but didn't see it. Is it in Speypages some where. I am new to this forum and really don't quite understand how everything works yet.

I recently bought an original Dually 6126-4; I'm still trying lines. Two I've tried lawn-cast over 90 feet. Medium action; not the belle of the ball, but an agreeable performer.

Hookum, check the private messages box in the upper right hand side. It should now be reading "Unread: 1".

Just FYI to save you some possible confusion, to minimize spam and for other reasons to post a classified you now have to be a SP member for two weeks and have a total of 10 posts. Easy to get there, especially if you are having conversations about rods, but if you decide to try it out and for some reason can’t post there that is probably the problem - easily remedied, especially if you are not a bot. It is there inside the classified stickies, but it happens a lot that very new members miss this info and get very confused.

Get used to doing the pms first as that is how you will communicate privately with most of the people who might have a rod for you. Best of luck.

What Sage is that? Did you enjoy the action? Want something fuller flexing or faster?

Sucks to have your rod stolen.

I really like the action of the rod. If I could change anything maybe just a little quicker in the tip would be nice.
