Anyone have info on 2008 spey clinics or classes?

I am looking for novice/intermediate clinics or classes for double handed rods. I am in Northern California and would like to do something like a two day class. There are probably specific courses on the internet, but I am having a difficult time finding them.

Any information would be appreciated.

Take a look at the Oregon Council's Expo March 7th and 8th in Albany Orego. The web site is:

FFF THCI’s teaches all spey casting classes.

All that plus you get to see the best fly fishing expo and show in the NW and the process go the fishery not someone’s pocket. This is a great opprotunity to recieve instruction and the benefits go to the fishery, conservation and youth education.

When the fish gods smile, I smile too!

Not sure where you are located in N CA but Jeff Putnam in Sacramento out of Kiene's Fly Shop teaches spey classes either in groups or one on one - he is a great instructor with several DVD's out - check out this link.

I live in Lake County and work in Santa Rosa so feel free to contact me with questions

Best regards,
Rick J

Don't Miss Spey O Rama, April 18-20, 2008

To view world class Spey casters, make it a point to be in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park for the annual Spey O Rama, April 18-20, 2008.

You'll not only see the greats but get casting tips from them as well during formal presentations and small clinics.

Note this is not a teaching situation as described by Klem or as presented by instructors for ab initio students, but it will give you goals to which you can aspire, as well as learning there are several "right ways" to accomplish good casts.

You'll see Simon Gawesworth, Mike Kinney and casting supermen from Scotland and Japan.

The event is located at the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club, John F. Kennedy Drive, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. See for driving directions, map, etc.

All see the Spey O Rama section of this board under "Claves and Other Gatherings."
