Difference between Skagit lines and Scandinavian shooting heads

I am new to the Spey Clave. My first question is: what is the difference between Skagit lines and Scandinavian shooting heads?

Many thanks in advance. Cheers,

Skagit vs Skandi

Skagit lines have a thicker heavier and generally shorter belly, Skandi not as thick or heavy and generally a little longer. My experience is with the Skagit line you are water loading more with the belly of the line to create your D loop. With Scandi type lines, a longer leader, or poly leader is used.Skandi is more of a touch and go cast with the longer length of leader creating line stick and the loading of the rod. That is my understanding of the basic difference of the two.

This article by Ed Ward should explain some differences for you. http://home.att.net/~slowsnap/spey16.htm

I'm sure it is also in the archives here somewhere, but my mind is not running on all cylinders tonight and I couldn't find it.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB
