2 good articles for newbies

Howdy all:

John Arnold (Headhunters Fly Shop on the Missouri) just posted a good article on the demo rods available in his shop.

Joe Rotter (Red's Fly shop on the Yakima) also posted a good article on choosing your first 2 handed rod.

Both are worth looking at before you pull the trigger.

I find that working with folks like Arnold and Rotter pays dividends in getting your rod dialed in. Even long distance by mail. They stand behind their products and recommendations.

Newbie advice. Get on the water

Spey= water. Preferably moving. Trees. Green trees, a lot of them. Chicken breast, bunnie and bambie. It's about being on the water. Fishing learning repetition. It's helpful to have a river nearby. Definitely take advice, learn to cast, watch someone who can cast or watch eds video. Your gear doesn't have to be special. I'd swing crappy gear all day on money water. go budget gear and book a sick trip
That being said, have fun. And be a sponge
