Skagit Question

If one is using a Skagit head and running line, where does one hold this system for casting? By the head or running line and what placement (head all the way out of the rod, part way in the rod, etc.) for which ever one it is? Thanks.

You can experiment until you find the best point for your rod but the best performance I have found on the various rods I use is to have an overhang of between 6" to 2' -- this refers to having this much running line (and the whole head) outside the rod tip.

Leo,

start off the the whole head out and the end of the belly in contact with the rod tip, then follow sinktip's suggestions. You might also have to change the amount of line out depending on the type of cast you are doing. I'll be going over all this stuff in the upcoming Speypages DVD.
