Not to take anything away from the Diawa version but I believe the 10/11 Integrity will hold a 9/10/11 WC and a sufficient amount of backing for steelhead fishing. While my memory is far from perfect I'm pretty sure I have sold several set up just that way. I will however check this out later today.
As to the finish chipping, that is true on the reels with the gloss finish. I have seen some that looked to be sand blasted. I know one guy that fishes a great deal on the Columbia tribs near Portland that uses one of these reels and it works flawlessly. It has also been to Alaska for salmon fishing. The finish is gone but that reel is smoooth. The newer versions have a finish that looks like some type of powder coating. My first impressions are that it will be a tougher finish.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB
