Video instructors?

Now that I have a real two handed stick in my hand (these things cast funny!) I need some technique. I haven't checked out any of the video/DVD offerings on spey casting but there are quite a few. Short of taking a lesson from a real live instructor is there one DVD product that is worth investing in?

There are several good ones. I think Rio's Modern Spey Casting 3 disk set is the most comperhensive. Other good ones are Spey to Z, Hazel's Introduction to Spey Casting, Dec Hogan's Modern Spey Casting and More, Derek Brown's Spey Masterclass, Jeff Putnam's Vol 1 & 2.
Any of the above will show you the different casts and some terminology. If you can't find them locally I think most if not all of the Spey Pages sponsoring fly shops have at least some of the DVD's. The Red Shed has a good selection.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

I strongly support MJC ( Poppy's) choice for the Rio DVD . In particular I really had the lights go on with Dec Hogans Modern Spey Casting. You will not be disappointed with them. I would buy both as the Rio is very in depth, and covers many different casts. But the Dec Hogan DVD covers the basic casts....there is just something about the way he communicates in it that really hit home with me. MJC ( Poppy ) carries both of these DVD's, you will not find a nicer fellow to deal with for your Spey purchases.

My two cents worth

If you are talking about scandi heads then I think the best is Henrik Mortensen's "The Perfect Cast".

Hi friends!
I saw those videos. I have a coincident with MJC and Norseman, the Decīs video is simple and very consistent, you will find a very basic and simple demostration to the basic speycasting technics. The Rioīs video y more deep and you will find a lot of diferents styles of speycasting. The Mortensen video is very good for shooting casting. Here in Argentina a few anglers practise speycasting, and the way to know and lern the technic are the videos. We saw a lot of them. Sometimes we wrote to JMC and he is our support!
