How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

I fished with a guy out of Chatham, Cape Cod, named Randy Jones who was very good. He divides his year between Chatham (blues and stripers) and Pulaski, NY (steelhead) so he wouldn't be in your area for the better part of a year, though. He used to be an instructor for Orvis' fly fishing schools.

I took my first lesson with Juro. It was some time ago and, unless he has been jaded by his teaching experiences over the years since, he was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.

Pbrown,

Where in Mass do you live? I live in Carlisle, MA. I'm not an instructor but I love spey casting/fishing. I started about five years ago with the Hunter's course taught by Simon, Greg Pearson, and Juro. If you want to get together sometime, just PM me. Miramichi/Cain's River Atlantic from the last week of the season/mid October '09. High water with alders on your back at times, spey rod came in real handy Jeff

If Jim Rusher is still at the Boston Orvis store, he's an excellent spey caster and gave lessons when he ran Witakers Shop in Pulaski, NY.

I took a 2 day group spey course from Jim Rusher through the WS Hunter store in Concord, NH a couple yrs ago. I think Jim gives private lessons - his website is under "Jim Rusher."
