Thumbs up Muskegon River Fall Gathering.....Nov.7th

Alright........ Here we go again!!!

Please note I moved the gathering weekend up two weeks!!!!

I'm opening up the house here on the Muskegon for a Fall Steelheading Weekend.......... Friday November 6th through Sunday November 8th. If you want to come earlier or stay later contact me.

I decided to move this gathering earlier for a couple of reasons......

--- I'm catching Steelhead...... NOW....Seems early, but it is happening. I've heard of several others hitting chrome so it's not likely to be just me being "lucky". Last year I did much better on Steelhead early in November versus later in the month....... water temperture 50ish early -vs- lower 40's later in Nov.
It might be the water I'm fishing, but I tend to have more success with 50 degree water temps.

--- My Son wants to Deer hunt this year, so I think it's best to do this before the Firearm Deer Season starts so I can hopefully help my 15 yr old Son get his first Buck.
I won't let him shoot one out of the yard like I did last year...

This is an Open Invitation to Everyone!!!!

I have had several of these over the years and each one has been a blast...... If you've been here before, thought about attending, or are a beginner to Spey Fishing and want to shorten the learning curve, please stop over for a garunteed great time with a bunch of Spey-Heads.........
The knowledge of the attendees at these gatherings is amazing....... The flys created at the table, the stories shared, the tips, the Hardy Reels, the food........ and The Scotch

The weather and River levels are always a crapshoot, but we all know about November in Michigan and own Fleece and Rain/Snow-gear.

Please bring a sleeping bag and pillow, and a cot or bedroll if you have one as bedspace/mattresses are hard to come by around here.
There is always plenty of floorspace to crash where ever as well......

Mark your fishing calander for the weekend of November 7th.....

Joe

Question Directions

Though I am an Old Fly Fisherman, I am new to the spey game and have a few new rods I'd like to try out and possibly fine tune. The invitation to beginners to shorten their learning curve is a very appealing proposition; unfortunately, I saw NO DIRECTIONS as to how to get to this gathering of sages, so a neophyte could hopefully acquire some sorely needed knowledge and in-sights into the Wonderful World of Spey Casting/Fishing. Please provide me with directions and perhaps some phone #s (in case of "the driver" getting lost!).

Jamey Mcleod, as always, is the contact person for directions, info, and whatever else........ Thanks Jamey!!!
I guess I should've asked you last night.

I'm located near the High Rollway off M-82....... about halfway between Croton and Newaygo as the river goes.

I don't really plan these gatherings, I just open up the house and the people attending decide what is going to take place.

Woo Hoo!!

Another Mojo-Fest!

Not sure about the bacon explosion Gary, but I was thinking to bring up a couple of marinated pork tenderloins to grill, with baked baby red's and some sort of veggie. Not sure whether it'll be friday or saturday night, but if someone else was thinking about cooking one of the nights we can coordinate it. Joe, better make sure the "system" will be able to handle it!

Joe, thank you for once again opening your door to us!!

See ya'll there!

Skeet

I think the boys from TC will be down as well. I'll probably be up Saturday morning.

No problem Joe,

Anybody who needs, PM me for directions.

This isn't connected in anyway to GreatLakesFlyFishing, but stop by there on your way and stock up on supplies.

LOL!! That Bacon Explosion looks awesome.

I wish we had something like that around here. Or, I wish I could fly half way across the states to this one. Looks like fun! Be sure to take lots of pictures and share them here!

Good Point Jamey.........

Great Lakes Flyfishing is not affiliated in any way with this Gathering......But, they are the sponsor of SpeyFest held here on the Muskegon and are also a sponsor here on the Spey Pages.

Great Lakes Flyfishing is The place to go for all your Spey Gear and Tying Supplies, as well as info on all the Western Michigan Rivers.......

Stop by the shop on your way here and tell Glen, Bob, and the entire crew Thank You for being a Spey Pages Sponsor.

People keep PM'ing me wondering what they should bring.

All the stuff you like to eat, drink and smoke (cigars). Meaning Beer, Munchies, and Punch Rare Corojo's, or Grand Puro's, most anything Nicaraguan or Dominican will do.

Sleeping gear (sleeping bag, cot, air mattress, pillow, etc).

The host enjoys top shelf Vodka if anybody was wondering, but will drink anything, so keep your mouthwash in your bag.

Mouthwash!!!!

Dammit Jamey........... you spilled my secret about how I keep my breath so minty fresh during my gatherings here........ Now I might have to resort to actually brushing my teeth since everyone will be hiding their mouthwash.

No more free minty fresh drinks for MoJo.........
