Guideline Spey Gathering

Saturday, June 6 at Henning Park on the Muskegon River in Newaygo, Michigan, starting at 09:30 AM until ????

Demonstrators:

Peter Humphreys, 2 HCI, MCI, Guideline Power Team,
ADVANCED CASTING
CASTING & FISHING FROM A BOAT

Jeff Hire, Guideline Guide Staff, BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE CASTING

Will Turek, CASTING & FISHING WITH A SWITCH ROD

This will be primarily a Guideline Event, demonstrating Guideline equipment. Showcased will be their new ACT4 line of two-handers.

This will differ from past gatherings in that the emphasis will be on fishing rather than casting. There will be stations set up aimed at educating beginners on everything from knots and lines to casting and fishing.

We will also have people to whom you can take your Spey outfit, if you're having problems with the way it casts (thanks, Seth and Dave P!)

We can, if it's requested, run the Distance Casting Competition.

Many thanks to Mojo 65, who has yet again kindly offered to throw his house open to one and all.

At the moment, this event is in the planning stages and we welcome suggestions.

Doug, I'm in the same situation. I'd love to be there, but will, in fact, be on Cape Cod testing my Guideline Quadra reel on stripers. That's been on the calendar since last June. I'll have to wait until the fall speyclave to get over there.

ACT4 rocks

It is nice when a company recognizes the need to create line of rods that have a lower price point. It is even better when the company fails to reduce the performance to match the price. These ACT4 rods so outperform anything on the market in the $329-399 price range that I cannot keep them in the warehouse. This clave will be a nice chance to try them all. Pete and Jeff will have SH and DH in a few flavors all lined and begging to be cast.

Wish I could be there, feel like I wasn't up to par in last years comp. Guess we can always do it again in the fall.

The reason that we picked this date is so that it does'nt clash with the Canadian Clave and also Great Lakes Flyfishing in Rockford Michigan is having paid Speycasting Instruction by Peter Humphreys 2 HCI MCI and Bob Braendle MCI on Friday June 5 th , Visit Great Lakes website for fee's and availability.

As Dave P is willing to defend his title and I have got numerous PMs about the competition then we will have it again, Using the same layout as last year. Although I think that because of the interest in Switch Rods and that Will Turek is going to be doing a demo on them we aught to have a 10ft 6" to 11ft 6" category, Will can be the Judge, it should be fun.

Doug,
Any updates on this event? What are the stations going to be?

Gary has already been practicing for the casting comp at his local pond.

Just a Heads Up........

The timing of this event is during the best Dry Fly fishing the Muskegon offers.........(in my opinion anyways).
Don't forget to bring your Trout rods to enjoy some Gray Drake Spinner falls in the evenings.

Contact Great Lakes Fly Fishing Company, the sponsor of the Friday casting classes, for all the info on Trout fishing the Muskegon River.

I'm opening my house to anyone needing lodging in the area. I'll be accepting guests starting Thursday evening thru Sunday.
My usual organizer for people staying here, Jamey McLeod, will not be able to make this event. So I'll be the contact person for people wanting to stay here.

Bring a sleeping bag and pillow, a bedroll if you have one, and your own towels and personals. Bedspace is limited, but everyone usually just crashes wherever they can find room.

Looking forward to another great event,

MOJO-65

Great Indeed

For those who will be interested Jeff and Pete will have spankin new single and double handed ACt4 and ExP3 rods lined and ready to cast.

My guess is folks will not want to give them back, but please do.

I am laying out a $200 gift certificate for GUIDELINE-Steelhead Anglers gear for the winner of the distance event, practice
