Tribal Licenses for the Clearwater Spey Clave...

I am sorry to report that info recieved late last Friday is there will be no tribal licenses available for anglers coming to the Clearwater to catch and release fish for steelhead. Everyone will be needing an Idaho state license.

A 3 day license is available for $31.50. The yearly license is $82.00 plus a steelhead card @ $12.75.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

No, I will never sell Idaho fishing licenses. No1 I don't have a counter big enough for all the computer crap they insist one uses. No2 I don't really like their attitude nor the fact that they can, have, and will jerk license vendors around.

On the 4 lane coming west from the Orofino bridge is Riverside Sport Shop, further along is the Guide Shop and in Orofino at the IGA (cross the bridge, go through the stop sign, on the left about another half mile).

In North Lewiston Cabin Camp and Home have them (across the highway from the Chevy dealer).

Oh man that really sucks.......what happened with the tribal licences Mike?

The next question I have is this...if I get an Idaho licence can I fish the Snake too....wondering this and the Snake appears to be the border for Washington and Idaho??? am I right on this?

This could be an expensive lic year to come down. I hope they rethink whatever reason they decided on not to allow tribal licences.

yes Paul, you need both the Washington and Idaho licences for the Snake. The tribal licence was only for the tribal waters, not on the Snake, but from the casino up.

River Right

will get you away from most of the bank crowd. Nice to have a friend to provide that kind of service. Good luck.

Question Tribal license?

In context, never fished the CW, where/what part do you need one of those to 'fish?'

Tribal License

used to be a way to fish the tribal land on the Clearwater for a reduced cost. It ran from Hatwai at the Casino upstream above Orofino to Kooskia and Kamiah. That takes in most of the river that fly fishers use.

I am not sure of the reason for the change or what it means for the future. The word is that there will be netting in the Clearwater to take the indian share.
