Green Bay Spey Clave

I have been hearing some talk about a Spey Clave in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
It is supposed to be pretty good. I think I heard that Simon Gawesworth is going to be giving a demonstration, among others. Has any one else heard about this? I would be really pumped if Wisconsin is going to be having a spey clave.

I will try to be there, but Oct. 18th is lousy timing for those of us that go out west to chase steel.

Yup. I probably would not make it either except that I scheduled a couple days on the Bois Brule that week.

Demo Spey Rods

Wintershope,
Do you know if Tightlines will have spey rods and line to demo? I'm really looking forward to seeing Simon's spey casting demo, but it would be great to have spey rods and lines to try out as well. I think Wisconsin is long overdue for a great spey event like this.
Thanks,

TT

Hi Tom,

My guess is that Tim will have rods available to cast that his shop sells. I will be fishing that week and you are welcome to try any of the rods in my quiver.

See you at the WFSC fund raiser this year?

Lots of rods, Lots of Lines

I was just in Tightlines and they not only will have Sage, Winston, and St. Croix. But they will also have Burkheimer and RB meisers, in fact they have the BUrks and Meisser's in the store. I also heard that they are working on bringing in Hardy and Loop rods, They already carry the Hardy reels.

Simon Gawesworth is also supposed to be there, as well a a few other well known and /or local guys.

I am just going to plan on going out west before or after or both.

If you want more details call Tim or Charlie at 920-336-4106

Yes, Tim has carried Burkie's and Meiser's for a while. As far as I can tell, he has the widest range of spey rods available in the Upper Midwest (WI, MN, MI, and northern IL & IN).

The fishing should really be picking up for Lakerun Browns and Steelhead at that time too. I bet the Milwaukee, Sheboygan, and Oconto will all be holding a good number of fish by then.

Maybe, I hope that there is a good run this fall. It is likely that the decaying carcasses will still be in the river then. Two weeks later through early December is prime time in years when the water gods favor us.

I hope that you are right,

Good Timing

With the rains we've been getting lately, and the cool weather, Oct. 18 should be prime for LR Browns and Steelhead on the rivers around Green Bay. Last year we found some of the biggest browns early and they were, of course, the brightest of the season.

I just heard that Chris Anderson from Sage is going to be a the Bay Clave. I fished with him in Alaska, before he went all corporate and got a real job. Yeah... "real job", surrounded by fish talk and spey rods. Anyway, Chris really knows his stuff and is an awesome caster, with a great PNW flare. So, I am pumped that he will be there and demonstrating.

This should be a great clave. I am glad that it is going on so close to home.

Thumbs up Some fly tyers for Finland too!

I also heard that there might be some people from EUMER to demonstrate the tubes and some awesome techniques.
