Sandy Spey Clave Gate Hours

Just talked to Sue Lowe, one of the contact persons for reservations and spokeperson at Oxbow. The hours of the gate are:

Open at 6:30am and close and 8pm

Lind is no longer at Oxbow and there is, according to her, no main person in charge to open and close the gate during the closed time frame.

SO, plan accordingly

Thumbs down Bummer

No main person in charge to open and close the gate during the closed time frame? Does that mean all are in charge? Or does it mean they all go home after locking us in?

That really puts a kink in the Friday night pot luck dinner plans. Not camping at the park. The possibility of getting locked in and not making it back to the hotel,,,not a pleasant thought. Especially since I threw away my watch when I retired. Wonder what their reaction would be to a couple dozen or more cars lined up at the gate wanting out?

Can't we bribe someone to stay for dinner and leave the gate open a bit longer?

I fish because the voices inside my head tell me to.

The person I talked to was Sue Lowe at metro reservations. Her number is 503.665.4995

Give her a call and see if Metro can arrange something. It puts a bind on those staying outside the park to leave by 8 pm. My conversation with her indicated that there was a cut back and no was is in “Charge”. A real Bummer.

Thumbs up It will be OK

Talked to Patti Bachmann at the Fly Fishing Shop this morning. They will talk to the powers that be and come up with a plan so those of us not camping at the park can stay for dinner, Mark's last presentation, whatever, without fear of being locked in the park. Either have the gate remain open, or park our cars outside and do a shuttle back & forth. Suggest check with Mark or Patti upon arrival to see what arrangments have been made.

Thank you Mark & Patti.

Dim bulb memory here?

Can't speak to last year, but the year before didn't the Park lend Mark/Bob Larsell a gate key for the weekend?

Unhappy Looks like (as of 0930 - Friday) a key to the gate may ..

still be a 'problem. If so, and you're going to 'stay late' on Friday (Pot Luck, et. al.) and Saturday evening (Loomis hosted dinner?) that parking out side the gate and a 'shuttle service' may be required. (TRUST ME! it's a LOOOONNNNGGGGG walk from the 'Clave area to the gate ... something like 1.5 MILES. )
