Smile Exciting news from Japan

Tone River Spey Clave was held on December 17 with two distance events.
Winning cast for 16 – 18ft rod class was 58 meters (63 yd or 190 ft) and for rod less than 15ft was 50 meters (55 yd or 164 ft).

Pictures and results can be viewed at Tak Shimosawa’s Speypages.jp.
Speypages.jp/SpeyAnglersShop.htm -> 2005 Tone River Spey Clave (first link from top) –> 2005 Tone River Spey Clave/ Spey Distance result (bottom link)
Looks like our friend SpeyBro (Simon) was there as well.

If you are using IE or Firefox and all you see is garbage, try following:
[View] -> [Encoding] -> [More] then select “Japanese”.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

Cortland PrecisionTri-Color 11/12 -Tak Long Belly Prototype?

Most of the top competitors used a Cortland line that I am not familiar with. Does anyone here have experience with this line?

That is Tak who runs speypages.jp and CND pro staffers new long belly line. I hear it is outstanding but they are not yet avail in the states. Hopefully Tak will chime in and let us know about US availability.

The clave was a great event - mostly thanks to Nobuo's spey bar!!

The casting skill and standard is very high indeed. Here's a brief report from the event: http://www.speyborn.com/JapanSpeyClaveReport.htm

It was great to see Tak, Nobuo and Hiroshi again - these boys are so friendly!

Always dreaming of that perfect cast.....

" ...these boys are so friendly!"

Sorry Simon, personally, I've never met anyone who handed me a large glass of good Whisky to be anything but.
