Midwest?????

So, what all is happening in the midwest as far as claves in '06. I have heard of one for sure event, and a bunch of rumblings.

I was thinking regardless of what happens, a casual get together on the Mo or the Big Man sounded good. Nothing too elaborate, some fishing, some malts, and of course a bunch of good BS stories. A bunch of speyheads invade Henning or Sawdust for the weekend????? Say..... the 2nd weekend in April?????

Jamey,

The rumblings are continuing and maybe combining. UpperMidwestFlyFishing.com will be hosting a steelhead/spey event where all vendors, shops, etc. are invited. A handful of our PNW friends maybe coming out as well. Info will be posted on UMFF and we will talking to Dana about advertising/promoting on this site as well. Please PM or email me with any questions.

Exclamation You know I'm down...

All I need to know is how many kegs of Shorts Beer ( http://.wwwshortsbrewing.com ) do I need to bring down to Sawdust????!!! It would be fun for all us GL speyheads. If it starts as a gathering, turns into a mini clave and get's big, oh well. Let's figure out dates and times, and I am down.
Depending on the weather, how about March 24th, the weekend after the Michigan Fly fishing show? Either way, anytime, let's do this.
When was the clave on the MO? I only went to last years...And if the grumblings you hear are the same as the ones I hear, that clave is going out of state? As I said, let's figure this all out.

PS: Found a great new Stout my friends...Lion Stout from Sri Lanka...8% and full of chocolate.

Talking No offense...

Dornblaser, but I really was only talking about bringing some Shorts bbls to a gathering on the Big Man or Mo this spring!!! but I could be willing to make the trip to your clave with some beer too if it does not interupt my fishing next fall.
Why fall? No offense, but I would rather spend my time in the fall fishing with my buddies than talking about fishing and casting!
A clave that you have to pay for? I can't seem to find a reason to attend that...that would be like me selling copies of all of the Dead shows that were given to me, out of a mutual love. Paying a day use fee at a public park that always charges does not seem out of the realm, but to attend a clave? Next thing you know, I will be paying to play disc golf!!!
Alright, call me a long haired hippie...but that's how see it.

Count me in

Hey jon That date sounds good to me you can count me in for the 24th or what ever day it is for that matter I had a great time passing the woodbridge around the campfire last year. I can throw a grill in the back of the sled..... brats brugers and beer. single malts and stogies. speys and steel. my idea of a good time.

Hows about the second weekend of April? Give things time to cook a bit more. I have gotten a few PM's this morning form interested individuals that said they would be good for that weekend also. Do it up on the Mighty Mo? I'm always down for a couple pints of the Shorts IPA.

I dont know that I will be attending any "for profit" claves. The sound of that just kind of makes me a bit ill. Maybe if the profits were donated to a righteous cause it would be a bit easier to swallow, but to line somebodies wallet, no thanks.

IPA? OK, I can drive over to MI as well.

David

P.S. - I deleted the reference to the possible for profit clave as I am not involved in it.

Yes that is true...but I have been called way worse in my day!!!

Mighty MO, Big Man- let's figure it out. I will bring the TC spey posse down with me, so look out boys!

Oh yeah, it's snowing again outside...at least it isn't as gnarly cold as it was last week. The idea of spring sounds awfully good already and it's not even January 1...

I'm in, but if my GF asks were all still sleeping in the dirt out under the stars. Get too cozy and she'll want to come.

I think I've gotten about 6-7 responses of people who will show.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be there and would be interested in the cabin as well. In fact, count me in on the cabin. Even if I can't make it, its worth a $40 gamble.

Hmmm a roof over my head?

That would be lovely...I am in for the cabin. So, how many are interested in the cabin? Who can we put you in charge of the cabin...maybe you Rambo? I was elected today by Jamey to be in charge of the bar, which is a natural fit for me. Any requests?

Question Let's get it clear...

[QUOTE=Jamey McLeod]Hows about the second weekend of April? Give things time to cook a bit more.

Just to clarify for all...are we all talking/agreeing April 6,7,8,9? Either way I am looking forward to seeing all you fine gentlemen again
There are a few places we could stay around the Big Man too. I will check out a few leads I have and report back. Just a thought. I am flexable, as I might take some time off from work to fish either way.
I talked to a good friend of mine out west yesterday, who just blew-out his ACL skiing, and had it replaced today He will probably come out for the gathering too, as he will be itching to do anything thats low impact, never mind swinging flies with GL boys! I will cover him for the house or whatever we all decide to do.
