Is there news on whether there will be any prizes/cups etc at next years event?

It seems that this was the only major competition that didn’t have any last year.

It is not because thing are difficult that we dare not venture.
It is because we dare not venture they are difficult.

Gordon,

I've passed that observation along to the folks at GGACC.

more from Nelson

Nelson Ishiyama who judged last year's event has added the following observations to the rules attached above:

Quote:
The Jimmy Green Spey-O-Rama is an event in memory of Jim Green, a long time and honored member of the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club. Jim was not only one of fly fishing's great innovators, but also a champion
tournament caster. He strongly believed that casting competitions should simulate real fishing conditions as much as possible and that they should use equipment that is generally available to the public rather than specialized competition tackle available to only a few
insiders. The pioneering spey casting contests he hosted years ago were based on those principles and are the model for the Spey-O-Rama competition. We recognize that other prominent competitions have different rules that make for longer casts, but we hope our contest will show anglers what great casters can do under fishing conditions with tackle in common use today. It's no coincidence that the top casters in other competitions have also come out on top in the Spey-O-Rama. We think it's a tough but true test of what the world's best casters can do.

Gordon,
First prize wins a mink jock strap, useful for deeeep wading.
Second prize wins two mink jock straps.

Contestants are warned that some of San Francisco's "colorful" citizens may mug winners to capture the prizes and contents.

I didn't see anything in the rules about line diameter restrictions, is it something that has been left out of the rules by accident?

Bob

Was wondering why all thoes "colourful" people were forllowing the Scots boys about lst year. Must have been something to do with their seal skin sporrans. Or was it the kilts?

rules reminder

A reminder - rods used in the Spey-O-Rama casting competition must be production
rods - ones that are or have been (old rods are OK) available to the general public.
The length limit is 15'1", and we will measure them to verify the length. Please
measure your rods. Shortening a rod to come within the length limit will not
disqualify it as a production rod.
