Thumbs up Cattaraugus Clave Date Set

We have finally come up with a date for the Catt Spey Clave, we've decided on the 15th and 16th of October this year.

We expect to have Juro, Rick Kustich and others doing demos, Oak Orchard and Buffalo Outfitters sponsoring, with a whole lot more details to follow including location etc. DIY lodging and transportation. Lunch BBQ sponsored by the Flyfishing Forum.

Lots of Rods and other products to demo.

We might get a certain special guest appearance as well, Juro is working on it.

Private or small group lessons available, contact Juro by PM for details on the lessons.

Charlie.

P.S. There should be plenty of fish in the river and other area waterways at this time so getting in some fishing will be a bonus.

Lodging can be found on this site http://www.holimont.com/displaylodging.asp

The Microtell in Springville is the place most people stay. I will post some good general directions to the Clave site in a day or two.

Thanks, Charlie.

Where will the clave actually take place? Near the Res, or closer to Springville? Personally,I think the water is better suited for spey rodding near the Res but anywhere is fine by me. Will you be emailing info, or posting it here?

Doctorsteve,

The Clave will be held in Gowanda at the Aldrich St. Bridge. The best and most general way to get there is to take the 90 to the Silver Creek exit. From the exit, take route 20 east to route 438. Make a right on 438 and take it to Aldrich St. Make a right on Aldrich St. and take that to the bridge over the Catt. This is the place where the Clave will be held.

More details to follow!

Thanks, Charlie.

Charlie and Brian Slavinski provided the great advice last year to use this location. It's good for a lot of reasons, in fact perfect.

Thanks Charlie and I look forward to the event again this year.

it is probably less than 15 miles, maybe 25 minutes from Springville via rt 39. the reservation starts just downstream from the clave location (within sight).

you will need a Seneca Nation fishing liscence which will cost you $35 and is available from the purple gas station at the corner of rt 5 & rt 20. this is right where 438 goes east to Gowanda so you will go right past it. during business hours they are available from the administration building which in on the north side of 438 just west of Versailles rd.

Cat Map

I'm looking forward to this years clave. Last years' was a great learning experience, expect this years' to be more so.

I've attached a link a map of the Cat published by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, for those who are interested. The roads are not labeled on this series of maps but if you look at Map D we will be on the river where the the road crosses (North/South) between the "r and e" in the word Creek. The Indian Nation will be West of us, you can almost see it from where we will be.
