Rogue on the Fly

Here's an event that's sure to have something for everyone.

Rogue On The Fly

Open to all fly fishers, or wannabe fishers of flies, single and/or two-handed.

Great location, great presenters, and September steelhead fishing on the Rogue can be hot, so bring your gear and plan to stay a while!

Cool!

Duly noted on my calendar. Would be nice if closer to Medford as its a bit of a drive to get to IMP from Medford-Ashland.

I agree Fred. Kind of a bummer that it is at Indian Mary. I'm not thrilled about heading out to Galice this year.

Touvelle was nice and local, but that's OK... we'll be there. Now that the ball is in Will's court, I'm sure he has good reasons for moving it out there.

Actually, there were quite a few that liked Indian Mary Park. More accessible river frontage, and camping. The casting demo's at TouVelle took place in that side channel, and no camping.

It's no more remote than Oxbow!!

Yeah, the side channel was kind of tough. And the camping makes sense with this years event being an over-nighter. But really... Oxbow 5 miles from Portland... Indian Mary 5 Miles from Merlin. Really... Merlin? A bit more remote.

This event should be fun. The medford event felt kind of like a drop in affair; this should be a little more "chummy" if that makes sense.

Ill be there! Come find me at the LTS booth! This will be fun as they have put some contest together. I like the location as it allows you to actually try the rods.

I am very happy they moved it to Indian Mary. I will be parking the trailer there and relaxing/fishing and presenting for the weekend. My wife is taking the kids to the coast so I am FREE!

The Touvelle event was fun but it never hooked me. I always had to justify turning down a day of work to the wife. That and I was on a short leash because it was so close to home. With the new 2 day format I am more motivated to commit. As a bonus I will get some fishing in which will be nice for a change.

Edit: I can't wait to see how far you guys can pfluck a pflueger.

Fishing at Indian Mary is a dead issue .... nothing but 'frog water.' Now a mile up/down stream and we're talking!. River access is easy; lots of it right off the road or on to the gravel bar. Can only think of one place I actually put the Jeep into 4x4. Probably not necessary, but it had been raining like heck.

Yeah, I'm with Fred on this one...

I told the warden as soon as I saw this thread and it appears I have permission. Thanks for posting this up Bob, we need to get together and fish sometime soon, it's been too long

Funny Bob. The only reason I logged on right now is to bump this back up! Looking forward to getting back together buddy, as well as all the folks I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet!

Also if you are on the fence about coming to talented Matt zilliox (mzilliox) will be doing a tying demo so you can watch him do his magic! Aaaannndddd I'll be attempting to copy what he's doing at the next table over so if you can't see around the crowd your welcome to step over and chat with me!

I still can't believe the turnout for our first Rogue on the Fly Rendezvous! Mr. Meiser and I were at the grill, and the people just kept coming and coming!! I reckon we fed up to 125-130 total, which exceeded our expectations.

Everyone I visited with said they were having a great time, and would be back again!

Indian Mary Park staff were over-the-top accommodating, and looking forward to our return visit.

I would really like to hear from those who attended if they felt anything lacking, or have suggestions on how we might make the event even better next year - including change of date.

To those that attended, thank you so much for your support, participation, and camaraderie.

Bob

PS - I'm sure a few photos will be posted soon.
