4th Annual Charity Spey Casting Clinic.

Still have 'openings' for up to three folks who want to be 'taught by the best of the best.' Charity clinic is the first weekend in March here in Medford, Oregon (Upper Tou Velle Park on Saturday, then up stream/across the river for Sunday.

Registration fee of $375 covers all your meals Friday evening-Sunday evening), save for breakfast. Not necessary you have a spey rod as we'll have a wad of them (including several of Bob Meiser's) on the beach. Instructors are Dr. Way Yin and Steve Choate ... you can't get better than that!!

How successful have the prior Charity Spey Casting Clinic's been? We'll the group(s) have donated almost $7,000 to youth fishing activities over the past years. Not bad, not bad at all. The registration fee is $375.00 and that includes all 'all-in' for your wife/significant other.

On the above note, most of the fellows do have their wives/s-o's join the group; many! have become fast good friends (as haven't we all??) over the past years. You become part of a wonderful 'extended family' of spey casters. Only one thing to keep in mind ... these guys do like their single malts, so bring along a bottle to share.

For those of you who didn't make it to this gathering here is a little taste of what you missed.

Dr. Way Yin demonstrates how to cast 100ft with only 4 fingers attached to the rod. Why do they call it a D-loop? Looks more like an arrow to me.

It was a great time, I learned more in 48 hours than in the last 18 months! Steve and Way are great teachers (and pretty nice guys, too). I can't wait to get back on the water to apply what I learned! Thanks Fred, Steve and Way!

Steve and I would like to thank all the attendees at this year's charity clinic. We were impressed with the improvements seen in everyone! We both felt that this was one of the best clinics we have participated in so far.

We would like to thank Fred, Joan, Mike, and Leroy for facilitating the event, and also thank our sponsors, 3/M Scientific Anglers, Scott Fly Rods, and G. Loomis for their generous support as well.

Well done, everyone!

P.S. Stay away from the salmon dip.
