Any hype?

I've been reading about lots of new graphite.

What's the line-up?

Rumor has it that there is going to be some new Meiz graphite.

This is good news.

"i've got a good idea what most of you are using and what would work for you, but sometimes you guys [great lakes] surprise me." Robert Meiser

speaking with mr. meiser earlier this year he said to be sure and put in a request for anything that we wanted to see and try at the great lakes clave and he would try and have it available. hard to top that offer. SG

camping

Maybe next year we should go back to having it when the park is open for camping. I am sitting on enough Stout to stock a small pub, and enough firewood to last the weekend. The Stout won't go to waste, but I don't know what I'm going to do with a pick up bed load of firewood.

MI speyclave camping?

Are there any places reasonably close to Henning Park for camping? I would be interested in camping along with anyone else who doesn't want to stay at a hotel. Are there National Forest Service campsites around or some other option? I live in WI so I'm not familiar with the area. Post a reply or PM me if anybody wants to try and camp. Thanks!

I just called "Mystery Creek Campground", its about 10min from Henning Park down M-82 and $9.00 a night/person for tent camping, and they are open starting the 15th.

Great Lakes Guys,

If all goes well I'll have the following rods at this event:

11'7" 4 pc 5/6/7 Trouter/Steelheader
12'6" 5 pc 4/5/6 Trouter
12'6" 5 pc 5/6/7 Trouter/Steelheader
13'0" 4 pc 6/7 Highlander
13'0" 4 pc 6/7 MKS
13'0" 4 pc 7/8 MKS
13'0" 4 pc 8/9 MKS
13'6" 4 pc 7/8 MKS
13'6" 4 pc 8/9 MKS
14'0" 5 pc 9/10 MKS
15'0" 5 pc 9/10/11 MKS

In late Febuary I had 16 rods shipped to Denver to begin a 6 show circuit, and they were all destroyed by the private carrier in transit to the first show.

All of these rods were to go to your gathering as well.

In the same month, the same carrier lost 60 of my blanks in transit from roll-up.

This really set me back quite a bit as I have a very small shop, and to re-build this loss in time for your event will be a monumental task.

I will ALWAYS now use good ole USPS as my carrier....!!!

The mentioned rods are what I should have available, and will do eveything possible to get these rods to you guys in time.

Hopefully it will be a good cross section of rods suitable for your watersheds.

contact?

Bob-
I'm wondering if we'll have a knowledgeable person here in Michigan that will be able to steer us through your rods? If so, do you know who that's going to be?

Hi Bob,

I THANK YOU in advance for your extra effort for our clave.

Those rods cover about 95% of our fishery.

I look forward to trying the 4/5/6 Trouter. This sounds like a dandy smallie rod.

My personal opinion is that the 6/7 - 7/8 is usually enough rod except for the heavy flow conditions.

How does the MKS series deliver mid bellies? The mid spey is my favorite line.

Thumbs up Third Annual Great Lakes Spey Clave

Is there any body who is attending the clave have one of those hunting camp style tents,or do you know any body who has one.
It would be great if some one could organize some kind of shelter just in case the rain show up like last year.

I was thinking about picking up a giant tarp and some rope.

I am going to Henning Park on Saturday to measure the distance between the Pine trees on the riverbank and then i wiil obtain the Tarp to suit, I already have adjustable tent poles and guide ropes, If anybody has a gas grill they could bring to the Clave i would appreciate it. Woodlander.
