Sept NSSC Meeting

14 spey casters showed up to the September meeting. Three came from the Medford area (@300 miles), Seven from the Portland/Vancouver area (50 miles), one from the Corvallis areas (35 miles) and four from Salem showed up to cast. Most of the local guys (@ 15members) were out with the Sanitiam Fly Casters outing doing some fishing (tis better to fish than cast - right). The highlights were watching Al Buhr cast his 16' 10wt a country mile with a loop so tight a frog would have been proud to wear it in the water!. AND Olga and Roman Koran (the 14 year old brother and sister team from Portland) showed everybody up with their great casting. The rumble from the "old-timers" -- I gotta go home and practice! Steve Godshall (guide on the Rogue) shared with us a NEW compact scale that will weight up 2000 grains!!!! Looks good. Check our newlsetter for more details in the October issues for this great scales. Out of all of us - no digital camera, maybe next time we will get some pictures to post. sounds great Klem!

I have an Alaska airlines ticket that I need to use before next spring so I am thinking about making a trip down to Portland to visit some friends later this fall. If this happens I will make the trip so that I can attend a meeting. Sounds great!

Klem,

As another long-distance member I would also like to attend someday... how often do you hold the meetings?

I welcome any reason to come to steelhead country!

Dana and Juro

Meetings are once a month on a Sunday afternoon. We have been meeting the 2nd Sunday but there is a small conflict with the local fly club. That is usually their outing date, so we are thinking of changing to the 3rd Sunday of each month. Will let you know a firm date in a few days. October's meeting will be eilther the 10th or 17th. Let me know when you can attend and I will bake a cake for ya'll ---Dutch Oven style. Looking forwards to casting with you guys! Klem
